Spiritual Direction

I am a certified spiritual director, receiving my training through Sursum Corda, in the Diocese of South Carolina in 1995. I have worked with directees since that time in both individual and group sessions.

Spiritual Direction is described as working with someone on their spiritual path. It is kin to being a midwife. You give help and suggestions but you do not act for the person. A midwife does not do the hard work of birthing a baby, just as a spiritual director does not do the work of drawing one closer to a spiritual power. The director may offer prayer, suggestions, and spiritual practices, which help the person to do the work.
Directors are not therapists – we are not trained to assist in mental health issues. Good directors know when to refer.

Direction is generally offered on a monthly basis for an hour-long session. There is a 3-session minimum once we decide to work together. To request Spiritual Direction, fill out and send the inquiry form below, then I’ll call you.
Thank You!
